IDEAS FOR WRITING:
  • CHINATOWN: What was Chinatown like?  Did it look like your home town?  What is different and similar?  What did the air smell like?  Describe the people you saw.  Did you buy anything?  Why?
  • CHINATOWN: Why do you think people built and live in Chinatown?  If you were to move to a new country, would you move to a place with many people from your home country?  Or would you move to where a mix of people live?  Why?  What are the advantages of each?
  • FOOD: Where did we go to eat?  What did you have?  How did it taste?  How does it compare to other food you have eaten so far at the MVCS cafeteria or other restaurants?
  • THE SYMPHONY: What did you think of the symphony?  Did you recognized any songs?  What was your favorite part of the symphony?  Would you go again to the same performance or to a different one?  Why?  Would you like to play in a symphony one day?  Which instrument would you play and what type of music?
  • THE TROLLEY TOUR: What was riding on the trolley like?  Have you ever ridden on a trolley before?  What did you see?  Was the San Francisco Bridge like you have seen it in photos?  How was the weather?  What could you see from the bridge?
  • THE CARTOON MUSEUM: What did you see at the cartoon museum?  What was the most interesting part?  What did you do there?  Would you like to go to school to learn how to draw cartoons?  Why?  Would you like to be a cartoonist someday?  What would you draw and write about?
  • ICESKATING:  Did you also go ice-skating?  How was that experience compared to rollerskating?  Which one is easier?  Did you fall or hurt yourself?  Give details.
  • SHOPPING:  Did you go shopping at Union Square, Chinatown, or in the mall?  Is shopping in the U.S. similar to shopping where you are from?  Can you compare and contrast them?  What did you buy?  Who is it for?  What did it look like?
